Zamfara State Excels as Top Northern Performer in NECO Entrance Exams for Gifted Children

Zamfara top performing Northern state in NECO exams

In a remarkable educational achievement, Zamfara State has emerged as the highest-performing Northern state in the National Examination Council (NECO) entrance exams for gifted children. This achievement not only places Zamfara at the forefront of Northern states but also ranks it second nationwide, with 30 talented students qualifying for admission to the prestigious Federal Government Academy in Suleja.

Sulaiman Bala Idris, spokesperson for Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, announced this achievement in a press statement on Sunday. The results, released last week, highlight a notable improvement in the state’s educational performance, marking a significant shift from its previous rankings.

Notably, out of the 30 qualified students from Zamfara, 21 are girls and 9 are boys. This gender distribution shows a growing emphasis on girl-child education in the state, reflecting positive changes in educational access and opportunities.

The Federal Government Academy in Suleja is well-known for nurturing Nigeria’s gifted children, providing a platform for students to develop their potential in service of nation-building and technological advancement. Zamfara’s impressive performance in this competitive examination shows the state’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and identifying exceptional talent.

This achievement is particularly noteworthy considering Zamfara declared a state of emergency in its education sector just last year. The quick improvement in performance indicates that recent educational reforms and initiatives are starting to show positive results.

Governor Lawal’s administration has pledged to ensure full implementation of its educational policies to build upon this success. This commitment shows a continued focus on improving educational standards and outcomes across the state.

Zamfara’s success story inspires other states in Northern Nigeria, showing that significant educational progress is achievable with the right policies and dedication. It shows the potential of students in the region and the importance of providing them with opportunities to excel.

As Zamfara celebrates this achievement, the next step is to sustain and build upon this success, possibly setting a new standard for educational excellence in Northern Nigeria.
