UNILAG Produces Two Best Graduating Students with Perfect CGPA at 55th Convocation

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) celebrated a historic academic achievement at its 55th convocation ceremony, as two students from the Department of Cell Biology and Genetics, Samuel Akinade Badekale and Damilare Haroon Adebakin, graduated as the overall best students with perfect CGPAs of 5.00.

Badekale took to his X account on Thursday to celebrate his remarkable feat, expressing gratitude to God and reflecting on his journey.

“This is a testament that dreams come true! B.Sc Cell Biology and Genetics with perfect CGPA (5.00/5.00) Overall Best Graduating Student 2023/2024 @UnilagNigeria. Numerous awards & records broken. God did it! Proverbs 22:29 #unilag #UNILAG2024Convocation,” he tweeted.

The milestone highlights the academic excellence nurtured at UNILAG, where the duo’s success demonstrates the potential for exceptional achievements through determination and dedication.

In another record-breaking achievement during the same academic session, the institution’s Department of Mass Communication produced 18 all-female first-class graduates. This unprecedented accomplishment was unveiled during the award of first-degree honours at the convocation ceremony, which commenced on Tuesday.

The three-day event saw a total of 16,590 students awarded degrees and diplomas. Out of this number, 9,865 received first degrees and diplomas, while 6,659 were awarded postgraduate degrees. Additionally, 66 students graduated from the UNILAG Business School (ULBS).

The 55th convocation ceremony serves as a testament to UNILAG’s continued legacy of academic excellence and its ability to produce world-class graduates ready to make significant contributions in their respective fields.
