Three Nigerian educators have been chosen as finalists for the Africa Education Medal 2024, recognizing their exceptional work in education across the continent. The finalists are Olanrewaju Oniyitan, Hakeem Subair, and Josiah Olusegun Ajiboye. This prestigious award honours their significant contributions and leadership in the field of education.
The announcement was made by Myroessa Metaxa, Communications Manager for Middle East and Africa at HP, on behalf of the event organizers. Oniyitan, Subair, and Ajiboye were selected from ten finalists for their transformative efforts to improve educational standards in Nigeria and beyond.
Olanrewaju Oniyitan, founder and Executive Director of the SEED Care and Support Foundation, is recognized for her pioneering work in advancing education in Nigeria. Her dedication and innovative methods have had a major impact on students and their communities.
Hakeem Subair and Josiah Ajiboye have also been acknowledged for their outstanding contributions. Their commitment to enhancing education shows a deep passion for providing quality learning opportunities and driving progress in their areas.
Mayank Dhingra, Senior Education Business Leader at HP, praised the finalists for their inspiring work to improve education. Dhingra highlighted that their efforts align with HP’s goal of achieving digital equity for 150 million people globally by 2030. He emphasized the need for collaboration with NGOs, governments, educators, and businesses to improve educational outcomes.
Vikas Pota, founder and CEO of T4 Education, stressed the importance of the Africa Education Medal in celebrating leaders who drive educational change. He pointed out that addressing educational challenges requires a community of committed leaders. Pota described Oniyitan, Subair, and Ajiboye as exemplary figures in this mission.
The Africa Education Medal, created by HP and T4 Education, honors leaders who have made a significant impact in education. Nominations for the medal, which began in February 2024, included a diverse group of individuals such as educators, school leaders, and public servants.
Now in its third year, the Africa Education Medal is part of the World Education Medals established by T4 Education and HP. It serves as a recognition of excellence in education.
The winner of the Africa Education Medal will be announced in October. A jury of distinguished individuals will select the winner based on strict criteria, ensuring that the award honors the most deserving candidates for their contributions to education across Africa.
