Thomas Adewumi University (TAU), a private tertiary institution in Kwara State, has achieved a significant milestone with full accreditation granted by the National Universities Commission (NUC). This accreditation covers all 11 academic programs offered at the university, including Accounting, Business Administration, Medical Laboratory Science, and others. The accreditation announcement was made in a statement by TAU’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francisca Oladipo.
The NUC is the regulatory body in Nigeria responsible for overseeing the quality and accreditation of universities in the country. It evaluates academic programs to ensure they meet established standards and guidelines. For TAU, the accreditation process involved a thorough assessment of academic programs, faculty qualifications, physical facilities, and student support services. NUC concluded that TAU exceeded accreditation criteria, scoring between 86.6% and 95.9% across its programs.
Professor Francisca Oladipo expressed pride in TAU’s achievement, attributing it to the dedication of faculty, staff, and students, as well as support from the university’s leadership. She emphasized TAU’s commitment to providing high-quality education that prepares graduates for successful careers and societal impact.
Johnson Adewumi, the Founder and Chancellor of TAU, emphasized that the university is dedicated to promoting academic excellence and innovation. He highlighted that the accreditation, valid for five years, shows TAU’s commitment to maintaining and improving academic standards through continuous improvement efforts.
In addition to TAU, other universities such as Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) and Lagos State University (LASU) also received full accreditation for their respective programs, reflecting Nigeria’s commitment to advancing educational standards nationwide.
