Scholarship Details
The MTN Scholarship Scheme, a flagship program of the MTN Foundation since 2010, is open to eligible undergraduate students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions.
Launched in 2012, the scholarship also targets 200 and 300 level blind students in universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
Annually, 300 students receive scholarships worth N300,000.00 until graduation, provided they maintain the required grades. Additionally, 60 blind students receive scholarships worth N200,000.00 annually.
Since 2020, the top 10 scoring candidates of UTME, as announced by JAMB, automatically qualify for the top 10 UTME scholarship, receiving N300,000.00 per year until graduation, contingent on maintaining the required grades.
Scholarship Requirements
To be eligible for the 2024 MTN Scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:
- MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS): Open to 300 level students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions.
- MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS): Open to 200 and 300 level blind students.
- For blind students studying law, only 300 level students can apply.
CGPA Requirements:
- STS:
- STEM students in public universities and colleges of education must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0/4 or 3.5/5 (second class upper).
- STEM students in public polytechnics must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 (upper credit) from the OND program and must have secured admission into the HND program.
- Direct entry STEM students must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 (upper credit) from the OND program and must have secured admission into 300 level/3rd year in a public university.
- SBS:
- Blind students in universities or colleges of education must have a minimum CGPA of 2.5.
- Blind students in public polytechnics must have a minimum CGPA of 2.0 from the OND program and must have secured admission into the HND program.
Scholarship Duration and Reward
Each year, a minimum of 500 students receive scholarships of N300,000.00 to cover tuition, book allowances, and living stipends for one academic year.
