Mike Ukachi Nwanoshiri, the newly appointed District Governor of Rotary Club District 9127, has unveiled a significant plan to enhance education and healthcare in Northern Nigeria. Nwanoshiri’s vision aims to drive major improvements in these sectors, aligning with Rotary Club’s broader mission to support community development globally.
During his investiture ceremony held in Jos, Plateau State, Nwanoshiri highlighted the critical role of literacy and announced an impressive donation of 2,700 desks to schools across 16 Northern states. This contribution, valued at N48 million, is intended to provide a better learning environment for pupils and support the region’s educational infrastructure.
In addition to his educational initiatives, Nwanoshiri expressed a strong commitment to advancing maternal and child healthcare. His administration plans to invest N40 million in renovating four primary healthcare centers and equipping them with necessary medical equipment. This effort is part of a broader strategy to improve health services and facilities in the district.
Furthermore, the District Governor aims to foster disease prevention among the less privileged by distributing sanitary pads to over 5,000 girls in the region. This initiative underscores his dedication to addressing health and hygiene challenges faced by vulnerable populations.
Ephraim Usman, representing Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, praised the Rotary Club’s efforts and affirmed the alignment of Nwanoshiri’s goals with the state’s development agenda. The Governor’s support reflects a shared commitment to improving public services and quality of life in the region.
Guest speaker Luke Pampe, a retired lecturer, advised Nwanoshiri to govern with fairness and integrity. He also voiced concerns about the impact of recent economic changes, including the removal of fuel subsidies, on hunger and poverty levels. Pampe stressed the importance of good governance and effective leadership in addressing these critical issues.
