Registration Opens For 2025 Education Champions League Quiz Competition

Organisers of the Port Harcourt Education Champion League (ECL), quiz competition have announced the opening of registration for interested schools for the 2025 edition of the competition.

A press statement from the organisers said, “prestigious annual event, is known for promoting academic excellence, critical thinking and teamwork, invites secondary schools across Rivers State to participate in an intellectual contest.”

It said that the opening of registration follows the remarkable success of the 2024 edition, where Federal Government Girls College, Abuloma emerged as champions, adding that the 2025 competition promises to be more exciting, with bigger challenges, new opportunities and attractive prizes for top-performing schools.

The statement further said that the competition offers participating schools and students the opportunity to showcase academic excellence as it serves as a platform for students to demonstrate their knowledge and analytical skills; encourage teamwork by helping students to develop leadership, collaboration and problem-solving abilities.

“It also offers the students to gain recognition, win prizes for their schools and establish themselves as centres of academic excellence.

“Some of the prizes from the 2024 edition included the O.B Lulu Briggs Prize (₦10 million): won by Federal Government Girl’s College, Abuloma; Claude Ake Prize (₦5 million):  won by Seacrest Preparatory School, Port Harcourt, Rivers State and the Boma Erekosima Prize (₦2.5 million):  won by Aladumo International School, Port Harcourt, Rivers State and another ₦1.5 million: won by Enitonna High School, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

“The Education Champions League (ECL) is a premier academic initiative designed to inspire young minds, promote literacy and foster intellectual competition among secondary school students. Since its inception, the competition has grown into one of the most recognised academic contests in Nigeria, empowering students and schools to strive for excellence.”

According to organizers, schools can register their teams on the official ECL website with registration between February 1 and 21.

As part of the process, schools must submit the names and recent photographs of their student representatives. Teams can make substitutions later if there are verifiable and compelling reasons.
