Oyo LG Offers Higher Education Scholarships to 200 Indigenes

The executive chairman of Oluyole local government area, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, has offered higher education scholarships to 200 secondary school leavers from the area.

The education advancement initiative, according to the council boss, is targeted at supporting the indigent students who have shown brilliance in their academic life but are less privileged financially to access tertiary education.

A statement by Engr. Olatunji on Tuesday, December 10, indicated that plans have been concluded in partnership with Aries Polytechnic, Ibadan, for the commencement of the scholarship program starting from the next academic session.Olatunji stated that the scholarship was designed primarily to provide financial assistance to academically sound but financially handicapped persons to study at a private polytechnic in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

Olatunji emphasized his commitment to empowering young people in his community, particularly those who face financial barriers to higher education, noting that the move was in line with the vision of Governor Seyi Makinde to remove all barriers to quality education at all levels across the state.

Furthermore, Olatunji disclosed that the scholarship program will cover tuition fees and other related expenses for the recipients, who will be enrolled in various Ordinary National Diploma (OND) programs under Sciences, Engineering, and Social Sciences, at the private polytechnic in the state.

He noted that eligible applicants must have completed their secondary school education with a minimum of five credits in their O’level results, including Mathematics and English Language.

He added that interested candidates will be required to submit their applications to the  Education Department of Oluyole LG, Idi-Ayunre, Ibadan, alongside original copies of their credentials and local government certificate of origin for necessary scrutiny.
