Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has approved a sum of N634 million to cover the 2024/2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) fees for students in public secondary schools across the state.
This was announced in a statement issued on Friday in Akure by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Ebenezer Adeniyan. The statement highlighted that this initiative aims to ease the financial burden on parents and guardians.
According to the statement, the funding will support the registration of 23,048 secondary school students who successfully passed the Joint Senior Secondary School II Promotion Examination conducted by the State Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology.
“For years, the Ondo State government has consistently covered WASSCE registration fees for public secondary school candidates, providing much-needed relief to parents, guardians, and stakeholders, particularly amid current economic challenges.
“The WASSCE is a critical academic milestone, serving as a gateway to higher education and future career opportunities,” the statement added.
