The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, has announced that corps members will begin receiving a new monthly allowance of ₦77,000, starting from March 2025.
In a statement released by the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, the DG made this declaration on Thursday while addressing corps members at the Wuse and Garki NYSC Zonal Offices in Abuja.
Nafiu reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to the welfare of corps members, assuring them that their well-being remains a top priority.
Expressing gratitude for their selfless service to the nation, he encouraged corps members to remain calm, dedicated, focused, and disciplined. He also praised the founding fathers of NYSC for their vision, emphasizing that the scheme plays a vital role in promoting national unity by fostering cultural exchange among young graduates across different regions.
“Starting from March, you will receive seventy-seven thousand naira as your monthly allowance. NYSC maintains excellent record-keeping, and I assure you that your payments will be made. Both the nation and the scheme appreciate your service,” he assured.
The NYSC boss further reiterated the management’s dedication to instilling patriotism, discipline, leadership qualities, teamwork, and good morals in successive batches of corps members.
In response, Corps Member Zaka Deborah Alheri (FC/24A/5831), speaking on behalf of her colleagues at the Garki Zone, expressed appreciation to the DG for his commitment to ensuring the prompt payment of the increased allowance.
With this development, the NYSC continues to strengthen its mission of supporting young graduates while fostering national integration and youth development.
