Nominations are now being accepted for the 2024-2026 Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC) Executive Elections. The Commonwealth Youth Council, established in 2013 with the endorsement of the Commonwealth Heads of Government, represents over 1.5 billion young people from the 56 Commonwealth member countries. This council plays a vital role in coordinating the efforts of national youth-led organizations, advising government officials, and implementing impactful projects and policies that aim to empower communities and shape the future.
The CYC executive team is also instrumental in advising stakeholders, including the Commonwealth Secretariat, on the delivery of the Commonwealth Youth Programme (CYP). The upcoming 2024 elections are particularly important, as the new leaders will be responsible for setting youth development priorities in the Commonwealth following the culmination of the Year of Youth in October 2024.
Open Positions
The following executive positions are currently open for nomination:
- Regional Representative – Caribbean
- Regional Representative – Europe & Canada
- Regional Representative – Pacific
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for nomination, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Age: Must be at least 15 years old at the time of nomination and under 30 years for the entire term of office (October 2024 – October 2026).
- Experience: Should have a minimum of three years of experience as a national, regional, or international youth leader.
- Advocacy: Demonstrate experience in advocacy.
- Nationality: Must be a national of a Commonwealth country, though residency in the country is not required.
