Nigerian Breweries Supports Education with Language Lab Donation in Honour of Maltina Teacher of the Year

Nigerian Breweries donates language lab to Keke Senior High School

The Nigerian Breweries/Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund has made a significant contribution to education by donating a digital language laboratory to Keke Senior High School in Agege, Lagos. This donation honours Adeola Adefemi, the winner of the 2023 Maltina Teacher of the Year competition.

At the recent hand-over ceremony held at the school, Sade Morgan, the Corporate Affairs Director of Nigerian Breweries Plc, emphasized the importance of this new facility. She noted that the digital language lab aims to improve the quality of teaching and enhance learning outcomes for the students at Keke Senior High School. This initiative aligns with the trust fund’s corporate philosophy and commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR), focusing on addressing the infrastructural challenges faced by Nigeria’s education system.

Morgan praised Keke Senior High School for its impressive academic achievements, including being recognized as the “Best Senior Secondary School” in the 2020 Lagos State Governor’s Quiz Competition and winning the 2024 Lagos Reads Inter-schools Quiz Competition. She expressed her admiration for the school’s dedication to academic excellence.

Jamiu Alli-Balogun, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, also commended the donation of the language laboratory. He highlighted how this facility will provide students and teachers access to essential digital resources, supporting educational advancement in the school. Alli-Balogun recognized Adeola Adefemi for her outstanding performance, stating that her commitment to teaching serves as an inspiration for the entire state.

The principal of Keke Senior High School, Mrs. Patience Aina, expressed gratitude for the donation. She remarked that the language laboratory would significantly enhance the learning environment for students and support the government’s efforts in providing quality education. Aina emphasized that this infrastructure will create a better opportunity for students to learn in a well-equipped setting. She acknowledged the positive impact of the Maltina Teacher of the Year competition, noting that the recognition and rewards provided by Nigerian Breweries would inspire teachers to strive for excellence.

Adeola Adefemi thanked the Nigerian Breweries/Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund for their ongoing support of education and the teaching profession. She highlighted how the new facilities would contribute to better learning outcomes for her students. For her achievement as the 2023 Maltina Teacher of the Year, Adefemi received a cash prize of N6.5 million and a fully funded training trip to Tampere, Finland.

The grand finale of the 2024 Maltina Teacher of the Year competition, which marks the 10th edition of this esteemed event, is scheduled to take place on October 11, 2024.
