Nigerian Breweries Boosts Education with Over N50 Million for Teachers and School Infrastructure

In a strong show of commitment to education, Nigerian Breweries rewarded Esomnofu Ifechukwu from Crown Grace School, Mararaba, Nasarawa State, with N10 million for his victory in the 10th edition of the Maltina Teacher of the Year Competition. This prestigious award also grants Ifechukwu an all-expenses-paid international training and N30 million worth of infrastructure development for his school.

The competition also celebrated other educators, including first runner-up Kehinde Olukayode from Molusi College in Ogun State, who received a N3 million cash prize. Second runner-up Aniefiok Udoh from Community Secondary Commercial School in Akwa Ibom State was awarded N2 million. Beyond these, 34 other teachers were recognized as State Champions and received N1 million each for their achievements.

Representing the Lagos State Governor, Jamiu Alli-Balogun, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, praised the Nigerian Breweries’ Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund for its positive effect on education through programs like the Maltina Teacher of the Year Competition. He recognized teachers for their hard work, determination, and role in creating a better future for Nigeria.

Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the Maltina Teacher of the Year Competition shows Nigerian Breweries’ continued support for the teaching profession, helping to uplift communities and make a lasting impact across the nation.

Minister of State for Education Dr. Yusuf Sununu, represented by Yaba College of Technology Director Adedotun Abdul, praised the trust fund’s commitment to honoring outstanding teachers and investing in educational resources and school infrastructure. Dr. Sununu stated that such recognition not only motivates teachers but also encourages schools to pursue excellence.

Hans Essaadi, Managing Director of Nigerian Breweries Plc, addressed the occasion by noting the essential role teachers play in nurturing young minds and contributing positively to society. According to Essaadi, the Maltina Teacher of the Year Competition was designed to honour the dedication and passion of educators who strive to shape students’ futures and strengthen the nation.
