Nigeria has achieved a historic breakthrough in aviation education with President Bola Tinubu’s approval of the country’s first private aeronautic university, the Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management (IBUAM).

The approval was announced by Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, following the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on March 3, 2025. The decision has been met with excitement, particularly among young Nigerians who have benefited from the generosity of the university’s founder, Comrade Isaac Balami.

After a four-year wait, the university finally received presidential approval, marking a significant step forward for Nigeria’s aviation sector. Balami, who is also the founder of 7Star Global Hangar and Airlines, described the moment as a major achievement.

“I am proud to pioneer an institution that not only advances global aviation standards but also nurtures the next generation of credible Nigerian leaders,” he stated. His dedication to aviation training extends beyond the university through the Isaac Balami Foundation, which is currently training 160 young Nigerians in various aviation disciplines.

Driven by a passion for Nigeria’s progress, Balami remains committed to strengthening the country’s aviation industry. Experts believe that the establishment of IBUAM could position Nigeria as a leading hub for aeronautical education in Africa, paving the way for future growth in the sector.
