Mr. Abel Enitan Oluwamuyiwa has officially assumed office as the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, urging staff to recommit themselves to the ongoing transformation in the sector.
Taking over from the outgoing Permanent Secretary, Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, who retired after 60 years of service, Oluwamuyiwa emphasized the need for dedication and strategic goal-setting among ministry directors. He encouraged them to adopt SMART goals—specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound—to drive progress within their departments.
Highlighting the ministry’s critical role in human capital development, he reaffirmed its importance in achieving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s eight-point agenda. He assured staff that their welfare would be a priority under his leadership and pledged to maintain an open-door policy. However, he noted that accessibility to him would be based on constructive ideas, innovations, and solutions to support the ministers in advancing the education sector.
Oluwamuyiwa commended his predecessor, Dr. Sani-Gwarzo, for his impactful leadership, stating that he aims to build on past achievements rather than reinvent the wheel.
During the handover ceremony, directors of the ministry lauded Sani-Gwarzo for his dedication and the positive transformation he brought during his tenure. In his farewell remarks, Sani-Gwarzo urged ministry staff to extend their full support to Oluwamuyiwa, expressing confidence in his ability to lead effectively. He also expressed gratitude for his career journey, rising through the ranks to serve in multiple ministries before concluding his service in the Ministry of Education.
