The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has successfully distributed N20,000 monthly stipends for July to 20,371 students across six universities. This financial support helps students manage their daily expenses, adding to the tuition fees that NELFUND has already covered.
Students from Bayero University Kano, Federal University Dutsin-Ma, University of Ilorin, University of Benin, University of Ibadan, and University of Maiduguri have already started receiving their July stipends. This financial assistance is part of NELFUND’s ongoing commitment to support students in their educational journey.
Mr. Ibom Uche, the Director of Finance and Accounts at NELFUND, released a press statement on Monday detailing the current disbursements and future plans. He mentioned that NELFUND is also working on initiating the payment process for students from approximately 55 more tertiary institutions.
“We expect to complete this within the next two weeks as we are committed to ensuring all eligible students receive their stipends on time,” Uche stated. This commitment underlines NELFUND’s dedication to supporting the educational goals of Nigerian students by providing necessary financial aid for their studies and ensuring timely stipends for their daily needs.
Additionally, it is noteworthy that the President has recently committed an extra 50 billion Naira from recovered proceeds of crime to support this initiative. This substantial financial boost will further enhance NELFUND’s capacity to assist students.
NELFUND extends its gratitude to students and institutions for their patience and cooperation. The organization is diligently working to fulfill its promises and provide continuous support to Nigerian students, ensuring they can focus on their studies without financial worries.
