The National Examinations Council (NECO) has accredited additional schools in Equatorial Guinea to conduct the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) and the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

According to NECO’s management, this expansion aligns with its goal of increasing global presence and accessibility to quality assessments.

Azeez Sani, Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, announced on Wednesday that the newly accredited schools are located in Bata, the largest city in Equatorial Guinea, adding to the existing ones already conducting NECO examinations.

He confirmed that an accreditation team visited the schools to assess their preparedness for the exams.

“The team conducted inspections of classrooms, laboratories, libraries, computer labs, workshops, examination halls, sports facilities, continuous assessment (CA) records, teacher adequacy, and security measures to ensure compliance with NECO’s standards,” Sani stated.

Following a thorough assessment, the schools were granted full accreditation to administer both SSCE and BECE.

Sani emphasized that accrediting more foreign schools demonstrates NECO’s commitment to providing quality education and assessments beyond Nigeria.

“With its growing international reach, NECO is positioning itself as a leading examination body in Africa, offering opportunities for Nigerian and foreign students to benefit from its expertise and contribute to the advancement of education across the continent,” he added.

NECO examinations are currently conducted in several countries, including Benin Republic, Niger Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, Equatorial Guinea, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
