The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has approved additional national diploma courses for the Zamfara State College of Health Sciences and Technology (CHST), Tsafe.

The college’s Information Officer, Jamilu Sani Tsafe, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, describing the development as a significant milestone aimed at meeting the growing demand for skilled healthcare professionals.

The Provost of the college, Alhaji Hamisu Yusuf Yelwa, expressed gratitude for the approval, noting that the institution underwent a rigorous accreditation process.

He listed the newly approved courses as National Diploma programs in Public Health, Epidemiology and Disease Control, Environmental Health Technology, Dental Surgery Technology, Computer Sciences, Health Information Technology, and Biomedical Engineering.

According to Yelwa, existing courses such as Community Health Technology and Environmental Health Technology were also included in the approved list, further broadening the college’s academic offerings.

“The NBTE’s assurance that graduates from 2018 to 2023 will gain university admission without requiring a JAMB number underscores the quality of education provided by the college,” Yelwa said.

In response to the increased demand for healthcare workers, Yelwa announced an expansion of slots for Community Health Extension Workers (CHEW) and Junior Community Health Extension Workers (JCHEW).
