The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has announced plans to implement Computer-Based Testing (CBT) for all its examinations starting from the 2026 academic session.
The newly appointed Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, Dr. Mohammed-Aminu Mohammed, made this disclosure on Thursday while addressing the board’s management and staff. Assuming office the same day, Mohammed-Aminu outlined his commitment to improving staff welfare, creating a conducive work environment, and enhancing capacity building. He also pledged to align NABTEB’s objectives with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“As we gather here today, I am reminded of Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which highlights the significance of technical education in driving national development and economic growth,” he stated.
He emphasized that digitizing the examination process would enhance efficiency, credibility, and integrity.
“The credibility and integrity of our examinations form the foundation of NABTEB’s existence. Any compromise in these areas undermines the value of our certificates,” he said.
Mohammed-Aminu further explained that the digitization process would cover registration, result processing, and certificate issuance, aiming to minimize human errors, reduce processing time, and improve overall operational efficiency.
To safeguard examination integrity, the board plans to implement biometric verification, encrypted question papers, and real-time monitoring systems.
Beyond digitization, the new NABTEB boss assured that his administration would explore available grants to support technical and vocational education. He also committed to ensuring timely promotions and recognition for staff dedication and hard work.
Earlier, the Director of Special Duties, Mr. Olugbenga Ojogbede, welcomed Mohammed-Aminu as NABTEB’s 5th substantive Registrar/CEO, describing his appointment as timely.
“With your wealth of experience, vision, and dedication, we are confident that you will lead NABTEB to greater heights. We acknowledge the challenges ahead, but we also trust in your passion for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to guide us toward a fair and credible examination system,” Ojogbede remarked.
With this development, NABTEB is set to modernize its examination processes, reinforcing its commitment to transparency and efficiency in technical education.
