MTN Foundation has opened applications for its 2025 scholarship programme, reaffirming its commitment to promoting quality education, advancing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), and supporting inclusion by empowering visually impaired students across Nigeria.
The scholarship programme offers three categories: the MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (MTN STS) for 300-level students in science and technology courses with a minimum CGPA of 3.5 (Second Class Upper or its equivalent); the MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (MTN SBS) for visually impaired 200-level students with a minimum CGPA of 2.5; and the Top 10 UTME Scholarship, which is automatically awarded to the ten highest-scoring candidates in the UTME, as announced by JAMB.
Over the past 15 years, the MTN Foundation has awarded 14,728 scholarships worth over 3 billion naira. In addition to financial support, the programme provides scholars with mentorship, internship opportunities, and digital certification to equip them with skills needed in today’s workforce.
Since 2024, the Foundation has increased the annual scholarship amount from 200,000 naira to 300,000 naira, renewable for up to three years until graduation, provided recipients maintain the required academic performance.
Executive Director of the MTN Foundation, Odunayo Sanya, described education as the backbone of national development. She stated that the scholarship initiative goes beyond funding education—it is an investment in Nigeria’s future leaders, innovators, and problem-solvers.
The application process is simple and entirely online, ensuring accessibility to eligible students across the country. Students who meet the criteria are encouraged to apply and take advantage of this opportunity to further their academic and professional development.
