David Famuyiwa, Chairman of Agbado/Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area, has pledged to boost investment in education, ensuring that pupils in the council area can achieve their full potential.
During the Children’s Day celebration at the council secretariat, Famuyiwa assured the children of ongoing efforts to enhance the education sector. He emphasized the importance of education, healthcare, and social infrastructure in nurturing children and enabling them to thrive.
Famuyiwa stated, “We will continue to invest heavily in education, healthcare, and other key social infrastructure that will help our children thrive and prosper. We believe that education is a powerful tool that can empower children to break free from the cycle of poverty and play significant roles in shaping the future of our community. That is why we will continue to prioritize the protection and welfare of our children. We are committed to providing safe and child-friendly environments, both in schools and in our communities.”
Highlighting the council’s achievements in education, Famuyiwa outlined various programs implemented over the past year. These initiatives aimed to improve educational and recreational facilities, including school infrastructure renovation, construction of perimeter fences, provision of water facilities and toilets, and distribution of learning materials such as desks, chairs, bags, and books. Additionally, the council provided free GCE and JAMB forms to outstanding and needy students, ensuring equal opportunities for education.
The Children’s Day event was filled with excitement as children participated in various games, competitions, and cultural displays. The festivities included a march-past, cultural performances, and fashion parades, with several schools and groups winning gift prizes.
Vice Chairman Alhaja Aminat Obe, who also supervises education, commended the children for their participation and wished them success in their endeavors. She promised an even grander celebration in 2025, ensuring ongoing support for the educational development and well-being of the children in the community.
