Kwara State University of Education Acting Vice Chancellor

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has appointed Professor Medinat Folorunsho Salman as the first Acting Vice Chancellor of the newly established Kwara State University of Education (KWSUED) in Ilorin. This marks a significant milestone for the university as it begins its journey toward academic excellence.

Professor Medinat Folorunsho Salman, a renowned academic, was a senior lecturer in the Department of Science Education and the coordinator of the Educational Technology Centre at the University of Ilorin before her appointment. She holds extensive academic qualifications, having obtained her Bachelor of Education degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1985. She later earned a Master’s degree in Mathematics Education in 1990 and a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from the University of Ilorin in 1998. Her expertise and dedication to education have been evident throughout her career.

As the first female professor from the Ilorin Emirate, Professor Salman is recognized not only for her academic achievements but also for breaking barriers. Her research focuses on areas such as mathematics education, gender issues in mathematics and science education, and the role of innovation in improving mathematics education, particularly in developing countries.

The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, made the announcement on Tuesday, stating that her appointment takes immediate effect. This appointment is seen as a positive step for the university, which aims to promote educational development in Kwara State.
