In a move to enhance teaching and learning across public schools, the Kano State Government has distributed 120,000 cartons of chalk to schools throughout the state.
The distribution exercise, held on Thursday at the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) premises, was led by the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Makoda, who reiterated the state’s commitment to educational development.
Dr. Makoda stated that the intervention aligns with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s vision to overhaul the education sector by providing essential teaching and learning materials.
“This initiative is a clear demonstration of our commitment to creating a conducive and effective teaching atmosphere in public schools,” he said.
He recalled that in October 2023, Governor Yusuf launched the distribution of instructional materials worth billions of naira to schools in all 44 local government areas of the state. These materials included textbooks, exercise books, whiteboards, markers, school bags, sandals, and uniforms.
The commissioner urged school heads to use the newly distributed chalks judiciously to enhance learning outcomes.
Also speaking at the event, the SUBEB Chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Kabir, commended the government’s ongoing efforts to transform the state’s educational landscape. He assured stakeholders that the chalk would be delivered to all designated schools for appropriate use.
The distribution exercise was attended by top officials from the Ministry of Education, SUBEB, and other key education stakeholders in the state.
