The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disbursed a total of N397,030,900 as transport allowances to 1,909 officials participating in the 2025 Mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), scheduled for April 10, 2025.
This was disclosed by JAMB’s Director of Finance, Mr. Mufutau Bello, during a strategic meeting held in Abuja to evaluate the board’s preparedness for the upcoming mock exam and the main UTME.
Mr. Bello emphasized the significance of the exams, describing them as critical to Nigeria’s educational integrity. He noted that the current disbursement represents just the first tranche, covering one-third of the total officials involved in the national exercise.
“The Mock exercise is the first phase of our core mandate,” Bello said. “Over N397 million has already been released to support officials’ travel, and this is only the beginning. The success of this exam reflects directly on the credibility of our tertiary education system.”
In response, JAMB staff pledged their full commitment to ensuring a smooth and credible conduct of both the mock and main UTME across the country.
Addressing concerns about local travel allowances, officials clarified that such discussions often stem from a limited understanding of the logistical complexity involved in organizing examinations on a national scale.
