Interswitch, one of Africa’s leading integrated payments and digital commerce companies, has announced the commencement of registration for the seventh edition of its National Science Quiz Competition, InterswitchSPAK.
The competition is open to Senior Secondary School 2 (SS2) students aged 14 to 17 across Nigeria and aims to promote excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
This flagship initiative, part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) focus on education, is designed to inspire the next generation of African innovators and problem-solvers by encouraging interest and proficiency in STEM fields.
This year’s edition features a scholarship pool worth over N30 million. The overall winner will receive a N15 million university scholarship disbursed over five years, a brand-new laptop, and monthly stipends. The first runner-up will be awarded a N10 million scholarship over three years and a laptop, while the second runner-up will go home with a N5 million scholarship for one year, along with a laptop and other prizes.
In addition to the top three awards, cash prizes and gift items will also be presented to the 4th to 9th place winners, as well as the top 18 semi-finalists. Teachers of the top 27 participating students will also receive prizes in recognition of their guidance and support.
Speaking on the initiative, Cherry Eromosele, Vice President, Group Marketing and Communications at Interswitch, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to empowering young minds through education. She said, “As we launch the seventh edition of InterswitchSPAK, we remain steadfast in our mission to provide a platform that nurtures passion for STEM. Our goal is to equip young Nigerians with the knowledge and confidence to drive Africa’s technological progress.”
Eromosele explained that the competition will begin with a nationwide qualifying examination, after which the top 81 students will advance to the next stage—a televised 13-week quiz show that will culminate in the grand finale where winners will be crowned.
Secondary schools across Nigeria are encouraged to register up to 20 of their best science students via the dedicated registration portal. The deadline for registration is May 25, 2025.
Interswitch also advised applicants and their schools to follow the company’s official social media handles for regular updates and announcements regarding the competition.
