Leading African digital payment platform, Interswitch, has donated Information Technology (IT) devices valued at over N45 million to Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech), Lagos.
The donation took place during a courtesy visit by the Interswitch team to the institution’s Rector, Ibraheem Abdul. Items presented included Cisco firewalls, Cisco switches, and servers.
Speaking at the handover, Interswitch’s Sales Manager, Mr. Femi Atere, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting Yabatech in building an academy that would equip students with vital digital skills. He further assured the institution of continued assistance in technology integration, advisory support, and other digital initiatives.
The donation was made possible through Cisco, a key industry partner of the college. A Program Manager at Cisco Network Academy, Mr. Imoh Akpan, highlighted the significance of the equipment in enhancing both practical and theoretical learning experiences for students.
Receiving the items on behalf of the institution, the Rector reaffirmed Yabatech’s dedication to manpower development and emphasized that the ongoing partnership with Interswitch would strengthen the college’s goal of becoming a leader in technical education. He also stressed that the initiative aligns with the institution’s vision of producing globally competent graduates.
He assured that the donated devices would be put to optimal use and called for an expansion of the collaboration between Yabatech and Interswitch.
Earlier, the Director of the Centre for Linkages, Partnership, and International Relations, Dr. Moshood Ajala, commended Interswitch for recognizing Yabatech’s role as part of the Cisco Academy and supporting the institution’s training programs with the donation.
