Fellowship Details

The UNESCO AfriMAB GRÓ LRT Land Restoration Fellowship is available for two fellows from African biosphere reserves involved in restoration activities. The six-month training takes place at the Agricultural University of Iceland. The first 12 weeks are dedicated to coursework and field trips, while the remaining 12 weeks are focused on individual projects that align with the participants’ academic and practical background.

Upon completion, fellows will earn a Postgraduate Diploma in Ecosystem Restoration and Sustainable Land Management from the Agricultural University of Iceland.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the 2025 UNESCO AfriMAB GRÓ LRT Land Restoration Fellowship, candidates must:

  • Be proficient in English (spoken, read, and written).
  • Be under the age of 40.
  • Have at least one year of experience working in a biosphere reserve relevant to GRÓ LRT.
  • Hold a university degree in a relevant field (e.g., ecology, environmental management).
  • Be actively involved in ecosystem restoration within a biosphere reserve.
