Applications are now open for the Wilson Center Social Media Internship 2024. The External Relations department at the Wilson Center is seeking an energetic and self-motivated student or recent graduate with a keen interest in digital communication, public policy, and international affairs. This internship is ideal for those who possess a strong understanding of the digital media landscape, especially the business use of social media on various platforms. Interns will contribute to social networks, participate in online outreach and promotion, and support events.

Duties

Interns will have a variety of responsibilities, including:

  • Campaign Implementation: Work with the Digital team to create and implement social media campaigns.
  • Content Creation: Develop engaging social media content, including graphics and video products.
  • Event Support: Provide support to the communications team during events.
  • Analytics Monitoring: Monitor social media analytics with the team to identify viable ideas.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned.

Salary

Interns will be compensated with a salary of $17.80 per hour.

Eligibility

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Background: Be enrolled in a degree program, recently graduated (within the last year), or accepted to enter an advanced degree program within the next year.
  • Experience: Have experience or demonstrated interest in social media/marketing.
  • Skills: Possess excellent oral and written communication skills, an understanding of the Wilson Center’s work and mission, and the ability to work and communicate in a nonpartisan environment.
  • Attention to Detail: Exhibit great attention to detail.
  • Social Media Knowledge: Have in-depth working knowledge of Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Tools Proficiency: Have basic knowledge of Photoshop, Canva, Buffer, or other social media management tools.
  • Content Creation: Experience in graphic design and short-form video production is required.

Preferred Qualifications

The strongest applicants will also have:

  • Video Editing: Experience with video editing programs such as Adobe Premiere and/or CapCut.
  • Analytics: Experience with social media analytics.
  • Nonpartisan Experience: Demonstrated experience in a nonpartisan environment.
