Global Health Corps Africa Leadership Accelerator 2024

The Global Health Corps (GHC) Africa Leadership Accelerator 2024 is now accepting applications. This prestigious program offers GHC’s renowned global health leadership curriculum to emerging leaders currently working in public health roles in Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, and Zambia.

The nine-month fellowship, running from September to May, includes virtual leadership academy workshops, in-person retreats, executive coaching, professional mentorship, and more. Fellows will continue working at their current organizations while participating in the program.

The Africa Leadership Accelerator employs a hybrid learning approach, offering both virtual and in-person opportunities. The program is fully funded, covering all virtual programming, travel to retreat locations, lodging, and meals. Fellows are expected to dedicate 6-8 hours per month to the program to maximize their learning experience.

Once the fellowship is completed, fellows join GHC’s lifelong global network of over 1,200 alumni and can continue their leadership development through the alumni program.

Program Components

All fellows will participate in:

  • Leadership Academy Workshops (3 hours/month, integrated into the workday)
  • Individual stretch and coalition projects
  • Global and country-based in-person retreats
  • Executive leadership coaching sessions
  • Quarterly supervisor check-ins
  • Learning circles with fellow cohort members

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Africa Leadership Accelerator Fellowship, you must:

  • Be aged 21-35 by September 1, 2024.
  • Be a citizen of Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, or Zambia.
  • Be employed full-time in a non-clinical public health role for at least six months at the time of application.
  • Be employed by a public health organization in Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, or Zambia, with expressed written support from your employer for your participation.
  • There are no specific education or training requirements for eligibility.

Application Process

To access the application, you must be nominated by:

  • A representative from your organization (HR professional, Executive Director, Program Manager, etc.)
  • Your manager or supervisor
  • A colleague or peer (current or previous employer)
  • A GHC alumni
  • A GHC fellow
  • Other

An email with a link to the application portal and information about the application process will be sent to nominees within 3-5 business days of nomination form submission. You will need to submit your CV, program references, demographic information, and short responses to various prompts. A letter of recommendation from your supervisor is also required.
