The Nigerian Army has launched the second edition of the Chief Of Army Staff (COAS) Literary Competition, offering up to ₦1.7 million in prizes. Open to students from primary to tertiary levels, the competition covers essays, art, and poetry with the theme “The Nigerian Army: Securing the people and promoting development.”

Competition Categories
Participants between the ages of 5–24 can compete in three categories:
- COAS Essay Competition
- COAS Art Competition
- COAS Poetry Competition
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Complete an application form, endorsed and stamped by the Head of School.
- Entries must be original, without plagiarism.
- All applicants will undergo two stages of assessment—initial shortlisting and virtual interviews.
Entry Guidelines
For the Essay Competition, participants must:
- Write an essay based on the theme.
- Keep essays under 2,000 words for primary/secondary levels and 3,000–5,000 words for tertiary levels.
- Submit original work.
Prizes
Cash prizes will be awarded across all categories and age groups:
- Ages 5–11: Up to ₦250,000.
- Ages 12–17: Up to ₦600,000.
- Ages 18–24: Up to ₦1,000,000.
