Fellowship Details
The Chevening OCIS Fellowships, a collaboration between the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and OCIS, include:
- Chevening OCIS Fellowship
- Chevening OCIS Abdullah Gül Fellowship (for Turkish citizens)
Fellows will undertake a 6-month self-directed research period focusing on their project related to the culture and civilization of Islam and contemporary Muslim societies in a global context. This program begins in October 2024, and fellows are required to reside in Oxford throughout the fellowship.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the Chevening OCIS Fellowship, applicants must:
- Demonstrate potential for leadership and influence.
- Have significant professional and/or academic research experience (at least five years).
- Hold a postgraduate-level qualification or equivalent professional training.
- Be a citizen of one of the following countries: Afghanistan, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Libya, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Philippines, Sudan, Syria, Turkey, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, or Uzbekistan.
- Return to their country of citizenship after the fellowship.
- Have a good working knowledge of English.
- Not hold British or dual-British citizenship.
- Not be an employee or relative of an employee of His Majesty’s Government or related institutions.
Applicants must submit a short proposal outlining their intended research project, including the main research question and methodology.
