Scholarship Details

The Africa CDC awards scholarships annually to 10 young African scholars for an 18-month master’s degree in epidemiology at the University of the Witwatersrand School of Public Health. Preference is given to candidates currently working with the National Public Health Institutes (NPHI) in their respective countries, aiming to strengthen the public health workforce capacity of African Union Member States.

Requirements

To be eligible for the African Public Health Scholars Programme, candidates must:

  • Have a background in medical, microbiology, dentistry, statistics, computer science, veterinary science, demography, nutrition, or psychology.
  • Hold a four-year honours degree, an MBBCh, or another health-related degree.
  • Have relevant work experience (advantageous).
  • Provide an English competency certificate or evidence of prior undergraduate training in English (for non-English speaking countries).
  • Submit certified copies of South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) certificates or proof of application to SAQA. Visit SAQA.
