Applications are now open for the sixth round of the Access Bank Climate Leadership Fellowship 2024. Climate change is severely impacting Nigeria with drought, desertification, flooding, and erratic rainfall. These issues harm health, wellbeing, and the environment. The north faces declining agricultural yields and high poverty, while the south deals with severe flooding and waterborne diseases.
In response to these challenges, Climate Smart Nigeria, in partnership with Glow Initiative for Economic Empowerment and supported by Access Bank PLC, is investing in a new generation of young energy leaders to drive energy transition and climate action across Nigeria.
The Climate Leadership Fellowship aims to provide expert training in climate leadership, renewable energy, climate advocacy, diplomacy, and finance. The program covers topics like climate advocacy, climate finance, and clean energy solutions such as solar power and waste-to-energy.
After the training, fellows will teach climate education in schools or communities, promoting climate resilience. They will receive a climate education toolkit and a certificate of climate leadership.

- Four-week intensive expert training on climate leadership for selected fellows.
- Fellows who complete the training will receive a climate education toolkit and instruction on its use.
- Fellows will adopt a school to teach climate change using the toolkit over a four-week period.
