The 2024/25 MTN Foundation Muson Scholarship is now open for applications. This fully funded scholarship is designed to support high-performing full-time students studying in public tertiary institutions across Nigeria, including universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. The scholarship is aimed at students who have a passion for music and are interested in pursuing a diploma program in the art of music.
Scholarship Overview
The MTN Foundation Muson Scholarship provides financial assistance to students who may not have the means to pay for their tertiary education. It recognizes and rewards academic excellence, offering a pathway for students to develop their musical talents and potentially advance to further studies in music at the university level.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the MTN Foundation Muson Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold the General Certificate of Education (G.C.E) Ordinary Level with credits in five (5) subjects, including English Language, or the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) with a credit in English Language.
- The five credits must be obtained in no more than two sittings and prior to admission to the diploma course.
- Possess a Grade Five (5) or higher pass certificate in practical and theory from The MUSON School of Music or any other recognized music examining body.
- Candidates with outstanding practical ability but deficient in theory may be admitted on the condition that they take a remedial theory course and pass the minimum requirements in their first year.
Program Duration and Benefits
The MTN Foundation Muson Scholarship offers a comprehensive two-year diploma course in music. This course provides advanced training in various instruments such as Piano, Organ, Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Percussion, Classical Guitar, and Voice. Students will also take two terms of an instrument minor other than their major, and all voice students must pass grade 2 piano. Participation in the choir, orchestra, or band is required for all students, depending on their major.

- The entrance examinations will be held from September 3rd to September 6th, 2024. These will include a written examination in Music Theory at the grade 5 level, an audition on a major instrument or voice, and an oral interview.
