Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has inaugurated new school buildings across several communities, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to quality education.
The newly commissioned projects include classroom blocks at Ipara Junior College, Majiyagbe; State Junior High School, Ibereko, Badagry; Awori Junior College, Ojo; and Thogli Community Grammar School, Badagry.
These projects were spearheaded by the Committee on Rehabilitation of Public Schools (SCRPS) as part of ongoing efforts to improve learning environments across the state.
Additionally, the state government is finalizing the Ultra-Modern Tolu School Complex in Ajegunle, Ajeromi-Ifelodun. The massive educational hub will house 36 different schools, a health center, fire station, ICT hub, inclusive school, and a multi-purpose sports complex.
Speaking at the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that these milestones reflect his administration’s dedication to providing every child—regardless of background or location—access to quality, inclusive, and equitable education. He pledged to introduce more vocational training programs, enhance digital literacy initiatives, and equip schools with modern technology and resources.
Represented by his Special Adviser on Agriculture, Dr. Oluwarotimi Fashola, at Thogli Community Grammar School, Badagry, the governor reiterated his commitment to bridging the gap between urban and rural schools. He stressed that the newly constructed facilities will empower students with the tools needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving world.
At Ipara Junior College, Majiyagbe, Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted his administration’s vision for an inclusive and modern educational system. Since assuming office, he revealed that over 4,000 classrooms have been built or renovated across Lagos State to improve the quality of education.
“These new classrooms represent our unwavering dedication to creating an environment where students from all backgrounds can flourish. They will serve as vibrant spaces for learning and development, benefiting not just our students but the entire community,” he said.
The governor urged stakeholders to take ownership of the new facilities, maintain them diligently, and ensure they remain centers of learning and inspiration for generations to come.
During the commissioning of State Junior High School, Ibereko, Badagry, Governor Sanwo-Olu, through his representatives, emphasized that education remains a top priority for the state. He noted that the new school buildings will help decongest overcrowded classrooms, provide a conducive learning atmosphere, and foster creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.
At Awori Junior College, Ojo, Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Tolani Sule, noted that Lagos State will commission nine more schools across different districts as part of ongoing educational reforms.
Meanwhile, Hassan Dauda Abiodun, Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of Education District V, hailed the commissioning of multiple schools within his jurisdiction as a testament to Governor Sanwo-Olu’s transformational agenda in the education sector.
“This development will greatly improve our children’s performance in national examinations such as WASSCE,” he added.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to building a future where every Lagos child has access to world-class education, modern facilities, and opportunities to excel.
