First Lady Calls for Inclusive Education on International Day of Education

Remi Tinubu

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has highlighted the critical role of education in transforming lives and shaping the future as she joined the global community in marking this year’s International Day of Education.

In a message commemorating the occasion, the First Lady reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to ensuring that every child, regardless of their background, has access to quality education.

“I am proud of the strides we have made. Nonetheless, we must continue to invest in our future by empowering our children to rise above the challenges they face and build a better tomorrow,” she stated.

This year’s theme, “AI and Education: Human Agency in an Automated World,” underscores the growing influence of artificial intelligence in education.

While acknowledging its transformative potential, Senator Tinubu urged stakeholders to prioritize the human element in learning.

“AI can serve as a tool for empowerment, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and emotional intelligence, rather than replacing the irreplaceable human touch in education,” she remarked.

She called on educators and policymakers to advocate for inclusive curriculums that integrate AI literacy with core values and human compassion.

“Only then can we create a world where every person has the opportunity to thrive,” she emphasized.

The First Lady’s message resonates with the federal government’s broader education agenda, which seeks to bridge gaps in access and equip Nigerian children with the skills needed to thrive in an increasingly automated world.
