The Federal Government of Nigeria has introduced a new digital platform designed to improve the quality of education in schools nationwide. This platform, called the Federal Education Quality Assurance Service Cloud Server or ‘FEQAS-collect,’ was developed in collaboration with the National Space Research and Development Agency.
At the launch event in Abuja, Dr. Yusuf Sununu, the Minister of State for Education, spoke about the importance of this new system. He highlighted that FEQAS-collect is a major step forward in improving the quality of education in Nigeria. The platform aims to make the collection, analysis, and reporting of educational data more efficient, thus enhancing the overall quality assurance process in schools.
Dr. Sununu mentioned that this cloud server will transform how the FEQAS Department operates by improving data management, streamlining processes, and increasing efficiency. It will also help with better collaboration, networking, and reporting, while ensuring data security and protection. This new technology will enable the Ministry of Education to better monitor and evaluate education quality, make informed decisions, and track progress towards educational goals.
Alhaji Abubakar Isah, the Director of Information Communications Technology (ICT) at the Ministry, spoke on behalf of Dr. Sununu. He encouraged the Federal Education Quality Assurance Service Department and other stakeholders to fully adopt and implement the new platform, emphasizing its benefits.
Dr. Hamid Boboyi, Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), also discussed the importance of this innovation. He noted that automating the quality assurance process will address challenges such as obtaining real-time and accurate data and reducing errors. Dr. Boboyi believes that this technological upgrade will help officers work more efficiently and provide timely feedback to schools and stakeholders.
Dr. Boboyi expressed hope that the FEQAS-collect cloud server will greatly improve quality assurance in schools and contribute positively to Nigeria’s education sector.
