Students of Federal Government College (FGC), Kaduna, have expressed confidence in their ability to secure top prizes at the upcoming Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Clubs Competition in the United States.

Following their impressive performance at the National Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Competition held earlier this year in Abuja, the team is set to represent Nigeria on the global stage in California.

Competing under the name Team Kaduna: KAD_CODERS, the students secured third place at the national level—an unprecedented achievement in the school’s history since its establishment in 1973. Their outstanding performance earned them multiple awards, including an invitation to participate in this year’s international contest in the U.S.

The team members include Elizabeth Sinkalu Olayinka, Ibrahim Cajethan Ebuka, Abubakar Sadiq Mohammad, Obadafin Precious Ajibobola, Aisha Muhammad, and Anita Michael Akoka. Others are Abubakar Amina Hassan, Vangnum S. Ishaya, Hikmat Obadari, Jovial Banki, and their coach, Muhammad Magaji.

The school’s principal, Adewale Adeyanju, expressed his pride in the students’ accomplishments, stating:

“I was thrilled when I received news of their success at the national competition in Abuja. It was a remarkable feat, and I commended them for their efforts. However, I challenged them to aim even higher in the global competition in California. It would be my greatest joy to see them raise Nigeria’s flag and bring home the top prize. Their potential is undeniable, and their coach has assured me that preparations are in full swing.”

Adeyanju also emphasized the school’s commitment to fostering technological innovation among its students.

“I strongly support technology-driven competitions like robotics and artificial intelligence. At FGC Kaduna, we are intentional about nurturing the next generation of tech experts, starting from junior secondary school. Our goal is to equip them with the skills to be innovative, focused, and impactful in society.”

As Team Kaduna: KAD_CODERS prepares for the global stage, their journey stands as an inspiration for young innovators across Nigeria, showcasing the country’s growing potential in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence.
