The Management of Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) has indefinitely suspended three staff members over allegations of extortion, grade manipulation, and the sale of grades to students.
The decision followed a report from the ESUCOM Disciplinary Committee, which was reviewed by a Management Committee established to handle such cases.
The suspended personnel include Dr. Ezugwu Samuel Ndubuisi (Department of Anatomy), Dr. Ugwuishi Emeka (Department of Physiology), and Dr. Nwafor Charles (Department of Physiology). Their suspension took effect on January 23, 2025, pending further investigations by the Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee.
Additionally, a student from the Medical Laboratory Science Department, ThankGod Chinonso Obi, was also suspended for allegedly aiding and abetting the offenses.
The suspension letter, dated January 29, 2025, was signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aloysius-Michaels Okolie.
