Eni’s subsidiary, Nigerian Agip Exploration Limited (NAE), in partnership with NNPC Limited and NAE PSC, has awarded scholarships to 30 Nigerian graduates for postgraduate studies in Nigerian and international universities under its 2024/2025 Scholarship Awards Scheme.

As part of the scheme, 10 beneficiaries will pursue postgraduate studies in universities in the United Kingdom and Canada, while the remaining awardees will study at Nigerian universities. The disciplines covered include Engineering, Geosciences, Petroleum and Environmental Technology, Renewable Energy, and Petroleum Law.

During the award ceremony held in Abuja, the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of NAE, Mr. Fabrizio Bolondi, congratulated the beneficiaries, emphasizing that the scholarships provide them with the opportunity to pursue their dreams and advance their career goals. He highlighted the company’s commitment to education, innovation, and progress in Nigeria, urging the scholars to stay focused on their studies to maximize the benefits of the initiative.

The postgraduate scholarship scheme was established in 2007 by NAE PSC partners as part of their human capital development initiatives. The program aims to promote knowledge acquisition and address the skills gap in specialized fields critical to deep offshore oil and gas operations in Nigeria. Since its inception, 320 graduates have benefitted from the scheme, gaining knowledge and skills essential for the industry.

Beyond the scholarship scheme, Eni, through NAE, has implemented various sustainability initiatives in Nigeria. These include projects in health, education, water access, and infrastructure development, as well as stakeholder empowerment in local communities. Key initiatives include the provision of 22 integrated water schemes for domestic use and irrigation in North-East Nigeria and Abuja, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), to support communities affected by the humanitarian crisis in the region.

Other notable projects include the provision of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) equipment to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH), Cardiothoracic equipment including a Heart-Lung Machine at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, and the establishment of a Research and Innovation Laboratory at the University of Lagos.

Nigerian Agip Exploration (NAE), established in 1996, oversees the company’s deep offshore exploration and production assets. It was the first oil and gas company in Nigeria to produce oil from deep offshore. NAE currently holds interests in six deep offshore blocks in Nigeria, either as an operator or co-venturer.
