The Chairman of the Ekiti State Teaching Service Commission (TSC), Mrs. Rhoda Ojo, has urged 13 newly appointed principals of public secondary schools to work diligently and leave lasting legacies in their respective institutions and communities.

Speaking during an address to the newly elevated principals, Mrs. Ojo emphasized that their appointments should not be seen as an opportunity for personal enrichment but as a call to service and a chance to make meaningful contributions to the education sector.

She advised them to adopt proper budgetary planning to guide financial transactions and warned against keeping public funds in private accounts. Additionally, she cautioned against engaging in illegal levies, examination malpractices, or any unethical conduct that could tarnish their reputation.

Mrs. Ojo further encouraged the new principals to set good examples for their vice principals and other staff by maintaining punctuality, ensuring proper record-keeping, and being role models of humility, motivation, and discipline for both staff and students.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Mr. Michael Boluwade, represented by the Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics, Mrs. Stella Ajayi, reminded the new principals of their responsibilities as accounting officers of their respective schools. He urged them to abide by public service regulations and foster strong working relationships with their vice principals and staff to ensure a smooth administration.

He also advised them to build positive relationships with their host communities by paying courtesy visits to community leaders upon arrival at their duty posts while maintaining discipline among staff and students.

Speaking on behalf of the newly appointed principals, Mr. Olugbenga Jegede, formerly the Vice Principal of Ipere High School, Ipere Ekiti, expressed gratitude to the commission for the opportunity. He assured that they would uphold the standards of their schools, improve on existing structures, and adhere strictly to government regulations in carrying out their duties.
