Dupe Olusola, the Managing Director and CEO of Transcorp Hotels Plc, has launched the Next Generation Foundation (NGF), a philanthropic initiative aimed at improving the lives of vulnerable children through education. Olusola’s goal is to ensure that children from underserved communities have access to quality education, driven by her strong belief in the life-changing impact of education.
Olusola explained that her passion for education stems from its power to transform lives, especially for children who may not have access to opportunities. She noted that Nigeria has one of the largest populations of out-of-school children in the world, and the NGF aims to make a positive change. The foundation is dedicated to giving these children a chance at a better future through learning.
In celebration of her 50th birthday, Olusola introduced the foundation’s first major initiative, the “50 by 50” project. This scholarship program, starting in the 2024/2025 academic year, will offer scholarships to 50 children between the ages of six and 18 from low-income families. The program will cover tuition, books, school uniforms, nutrition, health services, and mentorship. The initiative will initially focus on children from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lagos, and Ogun states.
Olusola emphasized that the Next Generation Foundation aims to not only provide education but also support wider education reforms in Nigeria. The foundation will partner with important organizations that focus on education and social development.
