Oladele Ogunfodurin, a chairmanship aspirant for Ikorodu Local Government Area (LGA) in Lagos, has pledged to build more public primary schools to address the issue of out-of-school children if elected.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) hopeful made this commitment on Thursday in Ikorodu, emphasizing the need for better educational infrastructure due to the area’s growing population driven by urban-rural migration.

With a metro area population of 1.1 million and only 69 public primary schools, Ogunfodurin highlighted the urgency of expanding access to education. He described himself as a grassroots politician with the experience needed for leadership, citing his past roles as a ward executive, state-level collation officer, and long-time campaign strategist for the APC since 1999.

Beyond education, Ogunfodurin outlined plans to improve healthcare, create more markets with affordable shops to reduce street trading, and provide soft loans to traders to support small businesses and strengthen the local economy. He called for a fair and credible selection process within the APC, stressing that only a capable candidate can drive meaningful progress in Ikorodu.

Acknowledging the achievements of the current council administration, he promised to build on its successes to further the area’s development and economic growth.
