The China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) has offered jobs to 190 Nigerian students they sponsored for university studies in China as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts.
Jason Zhang, Chairman of CCECC Nigeria Ltd., shared this news during a welcome ceremony for the graduates in Abuja. He expressed immense pride and joy, noting the hard work and determination of the students and the support from CCECC, the Nigerian government, and Chang’an University.
“Today, we are very proud to welcome the students who participated in the cooperation program between CCECC, the Federal Government of Nigeria, and Chang’an University. Their hard work and commitment to education have been rewarded with jobs at CCECC,” said Zhang.
Zhang highlighted the importance of education in building strong nations. He mentioned that CCECC’s investment in the education of Nigerian students will benefit both the company and Nigeria.
“CCECC sponsored these young people during the program and is now offering them job opportunities. This effort not only helps these individuals but also contributes to the development of Nigeria,” he added.
The Minister of Transportation, Senator Said Alkali, praised CCECC’s dedication to Nigeria’s development. He said the company’s efforts align with the Federal Government’s National Local Content Policy for Railway development, which emphasizes involving local engineers, technicians, and craftsmen in railway projects.
“The graduates, who specialized in railway and other transportation fields, will now play important roles in Nigeria’s growing transportation sector. CCECC has not only sponsored their education but is also providing them with jobs,” Alkali stated.
Alkali expressed confidence in the graduates’ ability to boost Nigeria’s transportation sector and encouraged them to use their new skills and knowledge to drive economic growth.
He also assured CCECC of continued support from the Federal Government, stressing the importance of maintaining high standards and professionalism in project execution.
Tajudeen Abbas, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, represented by Oluwole Oke, the Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, praised CCECC’s contribution to national development. He suggested that Nigeria should learn from China’s progress in infrastructure development.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, represented by Senator Amos Yohanna, said the graduates returned as professionals ready to contribute to Nigeria. Akpabio encouraged other companies to follow CCECC’s example in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
“Companies should invest in our young people and support economic growth,” he said.
