The authorities of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, Ogun State, have announced an indefinite suspension of academic activities in the institution following a planned protest by aggrieved students over result verification issues.
The protest began due to challenges faced by some students who completed their National Diploma (ND) at other polytechnics.
The students reported delays in the verification of their results, leading to frustrations over academic progress.
In a statement issued on Monday, the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Yemi Ajibola, confirmed the closure, citing the need to ensure the safety of lives and property.
“The authorities of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, have announced the closure of the polytechnic effective from Monday, January 13, 2025, until further notice.
“This decision is to ensure the safety of lives and property due to the protest by some students regarding the management’s decision to verify their National Diploma results from their previous schools,” the statement read.
Ajibola reaffirmed the management’s strict stance against fake results, urging students to remain off-campus for their safety.
“Parents and the general public are assured of timely updates as events unfold,” he added.
