The Bauchi State Ministry of Education has officially confirmed the resumption date for schools following a five-week Ramadan break.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the ministry’s Information and Public Relations Officer, Jalaludeen Usman, parents and guardians were informed that both day and boarding schools will reopen on Sunday, April 6, for the continuation of the second term.
The statement read, “The Honourable Commissioner for Education, Dr. Lawal Mohammed Rimin Zayam, wishes to remind parents and guardians that the resumption date for the second term is Sunday, April 6, for both day and boarding schools in Bauchi State. As education remains a top priority for the Bauchi State Government under the leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed, the Ministry of Education is committed to the success of all students.”
The ministry also announced that it will soon begin JAMB CBT training for all students sponsored by the state, equipping them to excel in the examinations funded by the Bauchi State Government.
The statement further emphasized that late resumption will not be tolerated, urging parents and guardians to ensure their children return on the specified date to avoid disruptions to their academic progress.
Schools had originally closed on March 1, 2025, for the Ramadan break, according to the 2024–2025 academic calendar. However, the extended closure had sparked criticism from religious groups and civil society organizations, who expressed concerns about its potential impact on the education system.
