The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Sokoto State University branch, has announced an indefinite strike, beginning Wednesday, in protest against the failure of the university administration, governing council, and state government to address longstanding concerns.

In a resolution reached during a congress meeting at the Centre for Caliphate Studies, members expressed disappointment over the lack of commitment from relevant authorities.

As a result, the union declared a total shutdown of academic activities, suspending all lectures, examinations, student supervision, grading, and statutory meetings.

To ensure full compliance, ASUU-SSU has activated a strike monitoring committee. A communique issued at the end of the meeting, signed by the branch Chairperson, Dr. Saidu Abubakar, and Secretary, Hassan Aliyu, reaffirmed the union’s stance on enforcing the strike until their demands are met.
