Scholarship Details 

The Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) scholarships and the Tasmania Graduate Research Scholarship (TGRS) are awarded throughout the year to high quality international and domestic candidates.

Scholarships are allocated competitively based on academic merit, experience, prior learning and other relevant attainments. Priority is given to new candidates in strategic research areas.

Applicants are enjoined to seize this rare opportunity and submit their application for the University of Tasmania Graduate Research Scholarship before the deadline, February 1, 2025.

Eligibility Criteria 

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Have completed at least four years of tertiary education studies and have achieved at least an upper second class Honours degree or equivalent.
  • Awards are only available to applicants who will be undertaking a full-time research Masters or Doctoral degree in 2025.
  • Not be receiving another equivalent award, scholarship or salary to undertake the proposed program (if that income is greater than seventy-five per cent of the base Research Training Program stipend rate).

Scholarship Benefits 

Successful applicants of the scholarship will receive:

  • A living allowance stipend of $33,511 per annum (2025 rate, indexed annually) for 3.5 years
  • A relocation allowance of up to $2,000
  • A tuition fees offset covering the cost of tuition fees for up to four years (domestic applicants only)
  • If successful, international applicants will receive a University of Tasmania Fees Offset for up to four years.
  • The duration of the Award is three years and six months for a Doctoral candidate and two years for a Masters candidate.

Required Documents 

To apply for this scholarship, applicants must prepare:

  • A copy of applicant’s passport
  • A signed copy of the supervisory support form
  • A Research Proposal 
  • Evidence of applicant’s qualifications
  • Certified copies of transcripts/academic records and testamur/degree certificates for ALL previous university studies, complete and incomplete.
  • A copy of applicant’s research thesis (from their Honours or Masters degree)
  • A Curriculum Vitae (CV), this must include the contact details of two referees
  • Evidence of English language proficiency
