The Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) Program is an opportunity for students in graduate studies at the master’s and doctoral levels to apply for a merit-based scholarship.

The scholarship is valued at an amount of $15,000 each year and awarded to graduate students of several participating Canadian universities as support towards living and study costs.

Scholarship Details 

The Ontario Graduate Scholarship program encourages excellence in graduate studies at publicly-assisted universities in Ontario.

The scholarship program is funded by the Ontario government and participating institutions. The government contributes two-thirds of the value of the awards and the university provides the remaining one-third.

The Ontario Graduate Scholarship is available to students across all disciplines of academic study; and available to Canadian Citizens/Permanent Residents and International students.

Eligibility Criteria 

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be in graduate studies at the master’s or doctoral level
  • Be enrolled in a full-time program for 2 or more terms (21 to 52 weeks in total) for the academic year you’re submitting your application.
  • Be attending one of the participating Ontario schools listed below in the program.
  • OGS is a merit-based scholarship. Applicants’ applications are assessed and ranked using criteria determined by the school they’re planning to attend.

Scholarship Benefits 

Successful applicants of the scholarship will receive:

  • $10,000 for 2 consecutive study terms
  • $15,000 for 3 consecutive study terms

Each OGS award is issued for:

  • A minimum of 1 academic year (2 or 3 consecutive academic terms)
  • A maximum of 2 years (up to 6 consecutive academic terms).
