The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) is a multilateral financial institution established to promote and finance intra- and extra-African trade. Interns will leave the program with a deeper understanding of African trade dynamics and the principles of trade finance—especially structured trade finance, which is the Bank’s core model.
The program is open to students from member countries of the Bank and offers an enriching professional and cultural experience.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the AFREXIMBANK Internship Program 2025, applicants must:
- Be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or postgraduate program at a recognized institution
- Be studying in relevant fields such as:
- Economics
- Business Administration
- Finance
- Accounting
- Law
- Social Sciences
- Statistics
- Be nationals of any AFREXIMBANK member country
- Be aged between 20 and 32 in the year of application
- Be fluent in English or French, with working knowledge of the other (Arabic or Portuguese is a plus)
- Not be children of current Afreximbank staff
Internship Benefit
While interns are expected to handle most of their living expenses, the Bank offers the following support:
- Coverage of return transport costs to the internship location using the most direct and economic route
- Monthly tax-free stipend of $800
- Hotel accommodation (bed and breakfast) for one week during the induction period
- Airport transfers to and from the hotel
- Assistance with securing relevant visas for the internship
